What This Is
Wall Street's analyst stack, free
Anthropic just released a free pack of AI agents built for Wall Street. They were made for analysts at hedge funds and investment banks. But they're free, they install in about two minutes, and three of them are stupidly useful if you invest your own money.
Here's the honest part most people will miss: you do NOT need a $24,000 Bloomberg terminal or a FactSet subscription to use these. The fancy data connectors are optional. Every one of these agents works with stuff you can get for free, the 10-K on the company's investor page, the earnings call transcript, the numbers in a free Yahoo Finance export. You paste the public inputs in, the agent does the analyst work.
This guide gets you all three installed and running today.

The honest truth before you start
These agents draft analyst work, research notes, models, earnings breakdowns. They do not give investment advice, pick stocks for you, or place trades. Every output is a draft for you to check. That's a feature, not a limitation. You stay in the driver's seat; the agent does the 4 hours of grunt work in 4 minutes.
Nothing here is financial advice. You're responsible for your own money. Now let's build.
Step 1
Install (2 minutes)
If you use Claude Code (free, runs in your terminal)
Paste these one at a time:
Install commands
# Add Anthropic's finance marketplace claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/financial-services # Install the core pack first (the shared modeling skills + data connectors) claude plugin install financial-analysis@claude-for-financial-services # Now the three agents that matter for investors claude plugin install market-researcher@claude-for-financial-services claude plugin install model-builder@claude-for-financial-services claude plugin install earnings-reviewer@claude-for-financial-services
That's it. Restart your session and the agents are live.
If you use Claude Cowork (the desktop app)
Open Settings → Plugins → Add plugin
Paste this URL: https://github.com/anthropics/financial-services
Pick Market Researcher, Model Builder, and Earnings Reviewer from the list, plus financial-analysis (the core pack)
Done. They show up in your dispatch menu.
Skip the premium data connectors (FactSet, S&P, PitchBook, etc.) for now. They need paid subscriptions and you don't need them to start. You'll feed the agents public data yourself.
Agent 1
Market Researcher: your personal analyst that never sleeps
What it does: You hand it a company or a whole sector. It reads the news, the filings, and the landscape, then hands you back an industry overview, who the real competitors are, how they stack up on the numbers, and a shortlist of ideas worth a closer look.
Why you care: This is the 3-hour Sunday research session you never actually do, done in five minutes.
The exact prompt to paste
You are my market researcher. I'm a retail investor, not a professional. Research [COMPANY or SECTOR — e.g. "the home-fitness equipment sector"]. Give me, in plain English: 1. What this business/sector actually does and how it makes money 2. The 4-5 real competitors and how they compare on growth and margins 3. What's happened in the last 90 days that matters (news, filings, big moves) 4. The 2-3 biggest risks a regular investor should know 5. A shortlist of the most interesting names to dig into, and why Use public info. Flag anything you're unsure about instead of guessing.
What you get back: A clean briefing you'd normally pay an advisor for, or never get at all.
Agent 2
Model Builder: the valuation math, done for you
What it does: It builds the spreadsheets pros use to figure out what a stock is actually worth, DCF, comps, a 3-statement model, and it builds them live in Excel.
Why you care: "Is this stock cheap or expensive?" is the only question that matters, and it's the one math-heavy thing most investors skip. This does it for you.
The exact prompt to paste
Build me a simple DCF valuation for [TICKER]. Here are the numbers (or: pull them from this 10-K I'm attaching): - Revenue last year: [X] - Revenue growth I expect: [X]% per year - Operating margin: [X]% Walk me through it in plain English: - What you assumed and why - What the model says the stock is worth per share - How that compares to today's price - What would have to be true for the stock to be a good deal Then give me the Excel file so I can change the assumptions myself.
What you get back: A real valuation model in Excel, plus a plain-English read on whether the price makes sense. Change one number, watch the answer update. That's the part that makes you dangerous.
No paid data feed? Just paste in the company's 10-K or annual report (free on their investor-relations page) and tell the agent to pull the numbers from it.
Agent 3
Earnings Reviewer: should you still own this stock?
What it does: You give it an earnings call transcript and the latest filing. It tells you what management actually said, updates the picture, and flags anything that changes the reason you own the stock.
Why you care: Every quarter a company gets on a call and spins for an hour. This cuts through it and tells you the part that matters: does your reason for holding still hold up?
The exact prompt to paste
I own [TICKER]. My reason for holding it is: [YOUR THESIS — e.g. "they're growing fast and dominate their niche"]. Here's the latest earnings call transcript: [PASTE IT] Tell me, in plain English: 1. The 5 most important things management actually said 2. Anything that's better or worse than last quarter 3. Any red flags or things they dodged 4. The bottom line: does my reason for owning this still hold up, or has something changed?
Free transcripts: most companies post them, and sites like the company's investor-relations page or free earnings-transcript sites have them within a day or two.
What you get back: A 30-second verdict on a 60-minute call, pointed straight at your decision: hold or rethink.
Put It Together
The weekly investor routine (this is where it clicks)
Run them as a system, not one-offs:
Sunday
Point Market Researcher at a sector you're curious about and get a shortlist.
Mid-week
Run Model Builder on the 1-2 names that looked interesting and see if the price makes sense.
Earnings season
Drop every transcript for stocks you own into Earnings Reviewer and know in 30 seconds if your reasons still hold.
Three agents. Free. The same research process a junior analyst runs, except it works for you, on your portfolio, at your kitchen table.
Before You Go
Quick reminders
You are the decision-maker.
These draft the analysis. You make the calls.
Not financial advice, yours or mine.
Verify everything before you act on it.
Start free.
Public filings and transcripts are enough to get real value. Add paid data later only if you outgrow it.
Now go install it. The hardest part was the two minutes of setup, and you just did it.
