Skip this and half the prompts below will quietly fail. Do it once and every one of them works.
Be on Plus or higher
Astra is not on the free plan. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise all get it, but Plus gets a limited amount of Astra usage before you need extra credits.
Switch from Chat to Work
This is the step everyone misses. On Plus, Astra lives inside ChatGPT Work, not regular Chat. On web or mobile, pick Work from the menu at the top. In the desktop app, pick ChatGPT, then flip the toggle at the top to Work. Then choose GPT-6 Astra in the model picker. Work is still rolling out, so if you do not see it yet, your account is still in line.
Connect the apps it needs
Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack and others connect as plugins. Connect them before you run the prompts that use them. A prompt about your inbox does nothing if Astra cannot reach your inbox.
Use the desktop app for anything you have to log into
Facebook Marketplace, your internet provider, your bank. Install the ChatGPT browser extension from Settings, Computer Use in the desktop app, then start the prompt with @Chrome (or @Edge, @Brave). Astra then works inside the browser where you are already signed in.

Book your appointments
It finds someone taking new patients, compares reviews, goes to their site and fills out the form. You approve before it hits submit.
OpenAI's own launch demo: Astra found a pediatrician and filled out their form in 2 minutes 54 seconds.

Find a [type of doctor or service, e.g. pediatrician] near [city] that's accepting new patients and takes [my insurance]. Compare the top options by reviews, then go to the best one's website and fill out their contact or appointment form with my info: [name, phone, email, reason for visit]. Check with me before you hit submit.
Find money hiding in your taxes
It reviews your documents and flags deductions and credits you might be missing, with a rough dollar amount and what to confirm with your accountant.
Matt Shumer had Astra review his tax info and it found savings his accountants had not raised.
Needs: Black out your Social Security number before you upload anything
Prompt
I've attached my tax documents for [year]. Review them and flag any deductions, credits, or savings I might be missing. For each one, explain it in plain English, estimate roughly how much it could save me, and tell me what I should confirm with my accountant. Don't file anything.
Run your inbox
It tells you which emails actually need you, sums up the rest in one line each, and drafts replies you approve before anything sends.
Alex Finn had Astra dig through his old sponsorship emails, pull the past scripts and write the new one. He called it four hours saved on one request.

Check my email inbox every hour. Each time, tell me which emails actually need a response from me, summarize everything else in one line each, and draft replies to the important ones. Never send anything without my approval.
Find the money you are wasting
Every subscription and recurring charge, ranked by how much you save by canceling. The ones you forgot about float right to the top.
Needs: Download 3 months of bank and card statements as CSV or PDF first
Prompt
Go through my last 3 months of bank and credit card statements (attached). List every subscription and recurring charge, what each one costs per month and per year, and flag anything I'm probably not using, duplicate services, or prices that went up. Rank them by how much I'd save by canceling.
Negotiate your bills
It checks what your provider offers new customers, opens their support chat, and asks for a lower rate. It stops before agreeing to anything.

It watches Marketplace and Craigslist for your item priced way under what it normally sells for, and notifies you when one shows up.

Untangle your calendar
Double bookings, back-to-back days with no breaks, meetings that could be emails. It finds them and proposes fixes instead of just moving things.
Organizing your calendar is one of the everyday tasks OpenAI named at launch.

Look at my calendar for the next 2 weeks. Find double bookings, days with no break longer than 30 minutes, and recurring meetings I haven't actually attended lately. Propose a fix for each one and block 2 hours of focus time on my busiest days. Show me every change before you make it.
Research a big decision, then write it up
A car, a daycare, a laptop, a new CRM. It does the research across real sites and hands you a clean comparison doc instead of 40 open tabs.
Doing research online and drafting the summary in your doc was one of OpenAI's launch examples.

I'm deciding on [the decision, e.g. which daycare to use in Austin]. My must-haves are [list] and my budget is [amount]. Research the top 5 options on real websites and review sites, then write me a one-page comparison doc: a table of the options against my must-haves, the real price, the red flags people mention in reviews, and your pick with one paragraph on why. Link every source.
Plan a trip right up to the booking button
Flights, a hotel and a day-by-day plan that matches your budget. It builds the whole thing and stops before paying for anything.

Find the 3 best flight options and 3 hotels near the things we want to do, then build a day-by-day itinerary with realistic travel times. Give me the links for each booking, but do not book or pay for anything.
Fix the tech problem on your screen
The printer that will not connect, the app that keeps crashing, the setting buried six menus deep. It looks at your actual screen and works through it.
Troubleshooting problems you see on screen, and installing and testing software, were both on OpenAI's launch list.

Hand off the busywork
Turn your notes into a deck in your own template
Give it a few slides from your real deck and your rough notes. It builds the rest in the same fonts, layout and tone.
OpenAI says Astra is their best model yet at following an existing slide template.

Build a website from one prompt
A landing page, a portfolio or a simple site for your business, built and hosted inside ChatGPT with a link you can share.
OpenAI launched Astra alongside Sites, which builds, hosts and shares websites straight from a prompt.
Prompt
Build me a one-page website for [business or project, e.g. my dog-walking business in Denver]. It should explain what I do, who it's for, my prices, and have a clear way to contact me. Ask me up to 3 questions first about my style and anything you need to know. Then build it, host it, and give me the link.
Clear out the data entry
Call notes into your CRM, a pile of receipts into a spreadsheet, the same form filled out twelve times. The job nobody wants.
Filling out online forms and updating customer records in a CRM were the first examples OpenAI gave.
Needs: Use @Chrome if the CRM or form is behind a login

Here are my notes from [this week's sales calls / these receipts / this list]. Enter each one into [the tool, e.g. my HubSpot CRM or the attached spreadsheet] with every field filled in correctly. If anything is missing or unclear, list it for me at the end instead of guessing. Show me the first entry before you do the rest.
Drive the software you hate using
Ad dashboards, admin panels, anything with forty menus. You say what you want, it finds where everything lives.
Matt Shumer handed Astra his ad campaigns because those dashboards were a pain to navigate, and called the result fantastic.

@Chrome Open [the tool, e.g. Meta Ads Manager] and [the task, e.g. show me which ads spent money last week without getting a single sale, then pause them]. Explain what you're about to change before you change it, and don't touch budgets or billing without asking me first.
Keep an eye on your competitors
Their pricing, their new features, their offers. A report once a month instead of you remembering to go look.

Every month, check the websites of these competitors: [list 3 competitors]. Look at their pricing page, homepage, and any blog or changelog. Send me a short report on every price change, new feature or offer, and one thing each of them is doing better than me, with links. If nothing changed, just say so.
Read This Once
6 things that trip people up
Plus means Work, not Chat
If you paste these into regular ChatGPT on the Plus plan, you are not using Astra. Switch to Work first. This is the reason most people think Astra "does not do anything different."
Scheduled tasks eat your usage
Astra uses up your plan faster than the previous model did, and Plus only includes a limited amount. "Every hour" is 24 runs a day. On Plus, start your inbox check at twice a day and only speed it up if you have room.
It asks before every new website, and that is a good thing
You will see Allow once, Allow for this site, and Allow for all sites. Pick "this site" for places you trust. OpenAI labels "all sites" as elevated risk, because a sketchy page can try to steer the agent.
Stay at your computer for money and logins
Every prompt here says "check with me first" for a reason. OpenAI's own guidance is to stay present for anything involving payments, passwords or account settings. Let it do the legwork, you press the final button.
Logged-in sites need the desktop app
Work on the web runs in the cloud and cannot use the browser where you are signed in. For Facebook, your bank or your provider, use the desktop app with the browser extension. For a scheduled check on those sites, leave the computer on and the app running.
It notifies you, it does not text you
Results from scheduled tasks land in the Scheduled tab inside ChatGPT with a notification. Turn on ChatGPT notifications on your phone so the deal alert actually reaches you.
