Why This One Matters
What makes Palmier Pro different
There are a lot of AI video tools. Almost all of them work the same annoying way: you generate something in one app, download it, drag it into a second app, and do the actual editing yourself. The AI never touches your timeline.
Palmier Pro is the first one that fixes that. When the app is open, it quietly runs something called an MCP server. In plain English, that's a doorway that lets Claude see and control the exact same timeline you're looking at.
So Claude isn't guessing. It's looking at your real footage, your real clips, your real cuts. You tell it what you want in plain English, and it does the dirty work: clipping, trimming, adding text, reordering, all of it. You stay the director. It does the clicking.
Read This First
The one requirement
I'm not going to waste your time. Before you download anything, check this:
A Mac on Apple Silicon, running macOS 26 (Tahoe).
Apple Silicon means an M1, M2, M3, or newer chip (basically any Mac from late 2020 on). It will not run on an Intel Mac or an older macOS. There's no Windows version from the official team yet.
If that's you, you're good. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes from here.
Step 1
Install Palmier Pro
Go to the GitHub releases page
Open github.com/palmier-io/palmier-pro/releases and download the latest .dmg file at the top.
Open it and drag Palmier Pro to Applications
Same as installing any Mac app. Double-click the .dmg, then drag the icon into your Applications folder.
Open it. No login needed.
The editor itself is completely free and doesn't ask you to sign up for anything. Open it and leave it running, that's what turns the MCP doorway on.
Step 2
Connect it to Claude
This is the part that does all the magic. There are two ways to do it depending on which Claude you use. Pick one.
If you use Claude Code
With Palmier Pro open, paste this one command into your terminal. That's the whole setup.
Copy-paste command
claude mcp add --transport http palmier-pro http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp
If you use the Claude Desktop app
Even easier. No terminal at all. Inside Palmier Pro:
Click the menu bar: Help → MCP Instructions
It's right at the top of the screen while the app is open.
Click "Install in Claude Desktop"
It's a one-click installer. It wires everything up for you and drops it straight into Claude.
Restart Claude and you're connected
Close and reopen the Claude Desktop app so it picks up the new connection. Done.
Heads up: the connection only works while Palmier Pro is open. If you close the app, the doorway closes too. Keep it running whenever you want Claude to edit.
Step 3
Now just talk to it
Open a project in Palmier Pro, then go to Claude and tell it what you want. Start with "look at my timeline in Palmier Pro" so it knows to use the connection. Here are four prompts to steal that cover most of what you'll actually do. Tap to copy any of them.
Trim the dead air
Look at my timeline and cut every pause, filler word, and dead moment. Tighten it so it moves. Show me what you cut before you commit.
Add text on screen
Watch the timeline and add clean on-screen captions for the key lines. Big, readable, centered. Keep them in sync with what I'm saying.
Reorder for a stronger open
My best line is somewhere in the middle. Find it, move it to the front as the hook, and reorder the rest so the story still makes sense.
Drop in B-roll
Wherever I mention a tool or a product, find a spot for a 2 second cutaway and tell me exactly what b-roll to drop there.
The trick is to talk to it like a real editor. Tell it the vibe you want, tell it where the boring parts are, ask it to show you a cut before it commits. It's looking at the same screen you are, so it gets context most AI tools never have.
The Honest Part
What's free and what isn't
I'd rather you hear this from me than feel tricked later. Here's the clean line:
✅ Free, forever, no login:
The editor itself, and letting Claude drive the edit through the MCP. Clipping, trimming, captions, reordering, organizing your footage. The whole reason you came here. That's all free.
💳 Needs a login and a subscription:
Generating brand-new footage from scratch inside the app, the AI b-roll made with models like Seedance, Kling, and Nano Banana Pro. That part costs money because those models cost money to run.
So the honest takeaway: the free win here is huge on its own. You get an AI that actually edits the footage you already have, no subscription required. The paid stuff is a nice-to-have on top, not the point.
