10 Ways to Use Claude Mods

Here are the 4 prompts from the video, plus 6 more ways to use Claude's new mods feature. Paste a prompt, and Claude builds the mod for you. No coding.

Before you paste anything

A mod is a small add-on that changes how Claude looks and works. You describe it in plain English and Claude builds it.

  • Where they run The Code tab in the Claude desktop app
  • Regular Claude chats Mods don't show up there
  • Coding needed None
  1. Open the Code tab. Open the Claude desktop app, click Code, and pick any folder.
  2. Paste a prompt and send it. Claude writes the mod for you.
  3. Click "Turn them on." Claude asks once if you want to turn on the mods it writes. If you say no, the mod won't show up until the next time that session starts.
  4. Type the code. The 4 from the video each get their own code, like /narrator. It only works after Claude has built the mod, so paste the prompt first.
  5. Ask Claude what to do next. Every build comes out a little different, so have it tell you exactly what to type or click to try yours.

Don't like something? Just say so. "Make the text bigger" or "turn it red sooner" works, and Claude updates the mod for you.

The 4 from the video

1. Better Prompt: fix your prompt before you send it

Type your rough idea and Claude rewrites it into a better prompt. You see both and pick which one to use. Your code is /messy-prompt.

Prompt 1: Better Prompt
Make me a Claude mod that rewrites my rough prompt into a better one before I send it. Show me the new version above the prompt and let me pick which one to use. Name it /messy-prompt, so I can type that before my rough prompt.

2. Chat Bridge: let your chats talk to each other

One chat plans and another one builds, and they send each other the work so you're not copying and pasting between them. Nothing from another chat runs until you approve it. Your code is /talk-to-each-other.

Prompt 2: Chat Bridge
Make me a Claude mod that lets my Claude chats talk to each other. I can name each chat, and one chat can send a message to another. Show new messages above the prompt, and never run anything from another chat until I approve it. Name it /talk-to-each-other, so I can type that to set it up in each chat.

3. Usage Meter: know before you run out

See how much of your 5-hour and weekly limits you have left, with a countdown to when each one resets. It turns red when you're close. Your code is /usage-meter.

Prompt 3: Usage Meter
Make me a Claude mod that shows how much usage I have left above the prompt: my 5-hour limit, my weekly limit, and a countdown to when each one resets. Turn it red when I'm close to running out. Name it /usage-meter, so I can type that to show or hide it.

4. Narrator: hear what Claude just did

After every reply, Claude tells you out loud what it did in one short sentence. Now you can look away while it works. Your code is /narrator.

Prompt 4: Narrator
Make me a Claude mod that says out loud what Claude just did after every reply, in one short sentence, using my computer's built-in voice. Add a button to turn it on and off. Name it /narrator, so I can also type that to turn it on and off.

6. Pixel Pet: a pet that reacts to your work

It eats when Claude finishes something, panics when something fails and levels up as you work.

Prompt 6: Pixel Pet
Make me a Claude mod that gives me a pixel-art pet above the prompt. It eats when Claude finishes something, panics when something fails, sleeps when nothing's happening, and levels up as I work.

7. Snake: a game for the long waits

Play Snake beside your chat, keep your high score, and find out the second Claude is done.

Idea from next-steps by hamzafer.

Keep the ones you like

A mod Claude builds this way only lasts for that session, and its folder gets cleaned up later. When you like one, send this in the same chat:

Prompt 11: Keep this mod
Save this mod to a permanent folder and install it for all my projects.
