How to actually display them on LinkedIn and your resume so they get seen

Before You Start

The Order I'd Do These In

You don't need all five to start. One real AI certification on your resume already puts you ahead of most applicants. But if you want the full set, here's the order that builds fastest.

Start with Anthropic's AI Fluency because it changes how you use every other tool. Then knock out Google and Databricks in an afternoon since they're under an hour each. Do Microsoft next so the certificate lands on your LinkedIn. Save IBM for a weekend when you want the deepest one. That's all five inside of two weekends.

One thing to know

"Free course" online usually means the course is free but the certificate costs money. Every one of these five is genuinely free, course and credential. I checked each one in June 2026. No surprise paywall at the finish line.

1.

Anthropic AI Fluency

Start here
Platform: Coursera Time: ~4 to 5 hours Cost: Free, certificate included

Teaches you how to actually work with AI instead of just typing into a chatbot. The framework (Delegation, Description, Discernment, Diligence) is the closest thing to a real operating manual for working alongside AI. Free certificate through Coursera's Community Impact track, no financial-aid application and no subscription.

What it signals

You understand how to collaborate with AI, not just prompt it. This is the one I'd start with.

2.

Google Introduction to Generative AI

Fastest win
Platform: Google Cloud Skills Boost Time: ~45 minutes Cost: Free, certificate included

A short course straight from Google Cloud that covers what generative AI is, how it works, and where it gets used. You earn a shareable skill badge the moment you finish. No cost, no catch.

What it signals

Fastest credential on the list. Knock it out in one sitting and you've got a Google badge by lunch.

3.

Microsoft Career Essentials in Generative AI

Recruiters see it
Platform: LinkedIn Learning Time: ~4.5 hours Cost: Free, certificate included

A free learning path built for non-technical people. The best part is the placement: the certificate posts straight to your LinkedIn profile, right where recruiters already look. Free certificate of completion included.

What it signals

The certificate lives where hiring decisions get made. That alone makes it worth the afternoon.

4.

IBM AI Fundamentals

Real foundation
Platform: IBM SkillsBuild Time: ~10 hours (one weekend) Cost: Free, certificate included

The most thorough one on the list. You walk away with the actual concepts: machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and AI ethics. Free Credly badge from IBM when you pass, no payment for the credential.

What it signals

An IBM badge plus the real foundation underneath it. The one that backs up the others with actual knowledge.

5.

Databricks Generative AI Fundamentals

Enterprise signal
Platform: Databricks Time: ~1 hour Cost: Free, certificate included

A quick course plus a short assessment. Pass it and you earn a free badge that signals you understand enterprise-grade AI, not just consumer chatbots. The badge shares straight to LinkedIn.

What it signals

Signals you get AI at the company scale, not just the chatbot scale. Easy weekend win with an outsized look.

The Part Most People Skip

How to Actually Display These

A certificate sitting in your downloads folder does nothing. The whole point is to make it visible where people decide whether to talk to you. Three places, in order of payoff:

1. LinkedIn: Licenses & Certifications

This is the highest-leverage spot because recruiters search it. Add each one under the Licenses & Certifications section with the issuer (Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Databricks) and the credential link. Microsoft's posts there automatically. The Credly and badge ones give you a "share to LinkedIn" button, use it.

2. Resume: a "Certifications" line near the top

One short section, right under your summary: Certifications: AI Fluency (Anthropic), Generative AI (Google), Career Essentials in Generative AI (Microsoft). List the issuer, not the platform. "Anthropic" reads stronger than "Coursera." You don't need all five on the page, pick the two or three that fit the job.

3. The LinkedIn headline: one line that does the work

Most people waste their headline on their job title. Add the signal instead: "Marketing Manager | AI-Certified (Anthropic, Google, Microsoft)." It shows up in every search result and every comment you leave, long before anyone clicks your profile.

Straight Talk

What I Left Off, and Why

A lot of "free AI certification" lists are lying to you. They include programs that are free to start and then charge $49 a month or a few hundred dollars for the actual certificate. I left those off on purpose:

  • Google AI Essentials. Great course, but the certificate sits behind a paid Coursera subscription.
  • Harvard CS50's Intro to AI. Excellent, but the certificate runs about $299.
  • DeepLearning.AI short courses. Reputable, but the verified certificate has a fee.

The five above are the ones where the credential itself is genuinely free. Start with one. One real AI cert on your profile this weekend beats five you keep meaning to get to.
